Opening for a HVAC Service Technician

MEP Contractors (MEPCO) is seeking candidates for a position as a full time HVAC service technician to provide maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and installation services to our customer base. Candidate will be responsible for the operation of a fully outfitted service vehicle for the purpose of executing demand service calls and preventive maintenance duties to HVAC systems. MEPCO operates as a full-service maintenance provider for a variety of commercial clients. As a result, in addition to HVAC service, candidate must be flexible to operate as a general repair technician at times as is required by MEPCO’s customer base. This will require the development and use of skills as they relate to HVAC, electrical, basic plumbing, general maintenance, carpentry, troubleshooting, etc.

Responsibilities and Skills
  • Preventive maintenance to a wide variety of HVAC and other mechanical/electrical systems.

  • Refrigerant handling, brazing, electrical diagnostics.

  • Diagnosis, repair, and checkout of HVAC systems. (Strong troubleshooting skills required)

  • Troubleshooting of electrical circuits, equipment, and controls.

  • Document work by completing paperwork for each job and piece of equipment in addition to maintaining a daily time log.

  • Performance of site surveys and updating of plans. Provision of accurate and timely documentation that reflects field conditions correctly.

  • Ordering of repair parts and evaluating timeliness of need.

  • Estimating of materials and labor for repair work.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while in the field.

  • Knowledge and compliance with OSHA’s safe work practices.

  • Assist construction crews, HVAC department, and perform general maintenance repairs as necessary.

  • Use of a variety of hand and power tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications to mount, assemble, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.

  • Keep current on industry knowledge and new equipment.

  • Provide technical support and information to customers.

  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, condition, and inventory.

  • Ability to interface and communicate with customers effectively and represent MEPCO, Inc as a leading professional service provider.

Required Qualifications
  • EPA Approved Universal Certification

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a college, vocational school, technical school or military training. (preferred)

  • 2-5 years of applicable field experience (Preferred)

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Valid driver’s license, and clean driving record

  • Criminal background check and drug screening required
